Zenobia's Bio

Zenobia McNally
Many People.
One Vision.
Neighbors Unite.

Zenobia McNally, a Brooklyn businesswoman, started her successful home-based, small business, five years ago.  She is a veteran marketer, who honed her skills working at a leading multinational advertising agency.  If asked, she would say that she is most proud of being able to provide employment opportunities to many people in East Coast cities such as Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Atlanta, West Palm Beach and of course, New York City.

Zenobia led the successful community opposition to a proposed 10-story, 500-bed shelter earmarked for Flatbush. She understands all too well that affordable housing is the answer to homelessness and that maintaining affordability is of utmost concern for seniors and young families.

Zenobia will bring the same energy, intelligence, and concern that she brings to housing struggles to tackling the problems in our schools.  Too many of our schools have been operating without adequate books and trained personnel.

Zenobia has a vision for the revitalization of Flatbush Avenue that includes actively pursuing assistance for small business owners and encouraging well-known stores to come back to the Avenue.  She actively advocates for the restoration of the former Loews Kings theatre and would like to see the theatre as a multipurpose, multicultural, and multigenerational community space.

Zenobia understands the big picture while never neglecting local issues.  As Congressman Major Owens said about Zenobia, “In a district where housing is a major problem, Zenobia McNally will make homes and apartments her highest priorities, as well as clean streets, working traffic lights, rat eradication, the elimination of potholes and illegal truck traffic.”

Zenobia has always been active in local politics and community affairs and has been an activist since childhood.  She organized street cleaning campaigns, block parties, and volunteered on several political campaigns.

Zenobia is originally from Panama, Central America.  She migrated to the United States with her family, where they made their home in Flatbush, where she still lives.  She graduated from Hunter College with a BA in Media Communications and a concentration in Film & Theatre.  Her varied interests include dancing, biking, fencing, traveling, scuba diving, and organic gardening.

Zenobia is a Director on the Board of Neighborhood Housing Services of East Flatbush, which is part of a nationwide, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to increase and protect community investment in underserved low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.  Zenobia is also a member of Community Board 17 Housing and Land Use Committees, a member of 42nd AD Community Democratic Club, National Organization of Women (NOW), and also a Founder of Concerned Citizens of Flatbush Block Associations.  Zenobia is a life-long parishioner of Holy Cross Church.
